Advertising Guidelines

Seen Profit is committed to accurate, independent and trusted journalism. Advertising and sponsorship help support our coverage of global markets, business, policy and international affairs.

These guidelines explain how Seen Profit protects editorial independence while working with advertisers, sponsors and commercial partners.

General Principles

No advertising relationship may compromise Seen Profit’s editorial independence, integrity or impartiality.

Seen Profit editorial staff must not create, edit, influence or otherwise participate in the production of advertising for clients or sponsors. Journalists, editors and newsroom staff may not appear in client advertising in a way that suggests endorsement.

Advertising must always be clearly distinguishable from editorial content. Where necessary, advertisements should be prominently labeled “Advertisement”, “Sponsored”, or similar wording that makes the distinction clear to readers.

Advertisers are responsible for the accuracy, legality and compliance of their advertising. Advertising must not be false, misleading, deceptive or unlawful.

Seen Profit reserves the right to reject, suspend or remove any advertisement that may harm its reputation, mislead readers, conflict with these guidelines, or create confusion between editorial and commercial material.

Display Advertising Guidelines

All advertisers must agree to Seen Profit’s applicable advertising terms and requirements.

Advertisers must confirm that they hold all necessary rights to use third-party intellectual property, including trademarks, images, videos, graphics, music or likenesses appearing in an advertisement.

The Seen Profit name, logo and trademarks may not be used in third-party advertising without prior written consent.

Advertising creative must meet Seen Profit’s technical, visual and formatting standards.

Seen Profit does not accept advertising that promotes hatred, prejudice or discrimination on the basis of race, nationality, religion, disability, gender, age, sexual orientation or other protected status.

Sponsored Content Guidelines

Sponsorship means that a third party funds, in whole or in part, content, coverage, reports, newsletters, events or special projects published on Seen Profit with the aim of supporting visibility or association.

Any sponsored editorial initiative must be approved by senior editorial and commercial leadership, who will determine whether the arrangement is consistent with Seen Profit’s editorial standards.

Seen Profit may accept sponsorship for coverage only where the subject is independently newsworthy and of genuine interest to readers.

At the start of a sponsorship arrangement, Seen Profit and the sponsor may agree on broad subject areas. A sponsor may suggest topics, but Seen Profit remains under no obligation to pursue them and retains sole editorial discretion at all times.

Seen Profit journalists and editors must gather facts, report, write and edit all editorially independent sponsored coverage without sponsor interference. Drafts should not be submitted to sponsors for editorial approval before publication.

If content is created by a commercial or branded content unit rather than the newsroom, it must be clearly attributed in a way that avoids any suggestion that it was produced by Seen Profit’s editorial staff.

Privacy, Cookies and Interest-Based Advertising

Collection and use of personal information for advertising must comply with Seen Profit’s Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

Cookie identifiers, IP addresses and similar online identifiers may be treated as personal data where applicable law requires it.

Advertisers may not install cookies, pixels, tags, beacons or similar tracking technologies on Seen Profit properties without prior written approval and compliance with our consent mechanisms.

Where local laws require consent, that consent must be obtained before non-essential tracking technologies are activated.

Advertisers may use data collected through approved advertising technologies only for agreed advertising purposes unless otherwise permitted under a written agreement and applicable law.

Seen Profit may allow contextual advertising against relevant topics, sections or keywords, but advertisers may not deliberately target placement beside content specifically about themselves in a way that could mislead readers. Interest-based advertising must comply with applicable privacy laws, platform rules and Seen Profit policies.

Labeling Guidelines

Advertising must be transparent and clearly differentiated from editorial content.

Display advertisements should not imitate the appearance, tone or structure of a Seen Profit news article in a way that confuses readers.

Native advertisements should be labeled “ADVERTISEMENT” or “SPONSORED” at the top of the content. Seen Profit may require additional visual distinctions such as a border, brand name, sponsor logo or disclaimer.

For editorially independent sponsored coverage, Seen Profit may use disclosure language such as:

“Sponsored by [Brand Name]. Sponsors are not involved in the creation of Seen Profit editorial content.”

For commercially produced branded content, Seen Profit may use wording such as:

“This content was produced for [Brand Name] by the branded content team of Seen Profit and was not created by the newsroom.”

For sponsored events, Seen Profit may use wording such as:

Restrictions on Advertising Content

Advertisers are responsible for ensuring that their advertising complies with all applicable laws, regulations, codes and industry standards.

Seen Profit may accept certain categories of advertising where lawful and clearly disclosed, including public policy, government, regulated financial services, legal products, events, education and selected health-related products, subject to internal review.

Political or advocacy advertising, if accepted, must be clearly labeled and must identify the paying organization. Seen Profit reserves the right to apply enhanced review standards to such advertising.

Seen Profit may accept advertising related to gambling or alcohol only where permitted by applicable law and where the advertiser demonstrates compliance with relevant restrictions.

Seen Profit may reject categories of advertising including but not limited to tobacco products, firearms or weapons, obscene or pornographic material, deceptive financial schemes, unlawful products or services, and content that promotes hate, violence or exploitation.

Seen Profit reserves the right to refuse any advertising at its sole discretion.
